It was a successful day at the South Pontotoc Invitational on Saturday for Starkville High School as both the boys and girls cross country teams earned top-six finishes at the event.
The Yellow Jackets boys varsity team earned a third-place finish, with two individual runners earning top-two finishes of their own.
Harlan Tagert finished second while Giles Jones was right behind him in third place.
On the girls side, the Jackets finished in sixth as a team as Evie Thompson earned the top individual finish for Starkville, placing 17th out of 91 runners.
In middle school competition, the boys team finished second and the girls team finished third.
Starkville’s next cross country meet is the Pontotoc Invitational on Oct. 14.
