Starkville girls’ basketball head coach Matt Wilbanks was named to lead the 5A/6A/7A North Half team in the 2025 Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center North/South All-Star Basketball game last week. The game will take place on March 15, 2025 at the A.E. Wood Coliseum at Mississippi College.
“It’s a huge honor to be a part of the North/South All-Star game,” Wilbanks said in a school district release. “I’ve attended the game several times to support my players who were honored as All-Stars or coaching friends. It’s even more special to be able to be on the court with Coach Lufkin and Coach Stallings as we lead the team together.”
Wilbanks was named Starkville head coach in March and has led the Jackets to a 3-2 start to the season. He was the Class 4A Region 5 Coach of the Year last season as the head coach at Morton, leading the Panthers to a 29-3 record and a state runners-up finish.
Wilbanks will be joined by assistants Kelcia Lufkin and Devonte Stallings. Lufkin joined the program alongside Wilbanks while Stallings remained as an assistant coach, first joining the Jackets under former head coach Kristie Williams.
Player selections for the 2025 North/South All-Star game will be announced on Jan. 15, 2025.
