STARKVILLE — Yellow Jacket boys soccer head coach Evinn Watson has been selected to coach the North All-Star Soccer team in the Mississippi Association of Coaches 2025 Randy West North/South game. Assistant coach Michael Adams will join Watson for the game, which will take place at Brandon High School on July 8.
Starkville junior Silas Walker was named in the team, and he will play alongside some of the best in North Mississippi under the tutelage of Watson and Adams.
“It is such a great honor to be a part of the North/South All-Star game,” Watson said in a school press release. “I played in this game my senior year of high school, and it was one of my favorite achievements as a soccer player. Now, to be able to coach in it and hand pick some of the best players across the North half of the state is a special honor.”
Watson joined the program as an assistant coach in 2019, ascending to head coach in 2020. His teams have made the playoffs every year since taking over. He also has several years of experience coaching locally at camps and for Tupelo Futbol Club travel teams from Starkville and the Golden Triangle area.
Watson is the first Starkville head coach to take part in the All-Star game since Bill Reeves in 1991 and Ken Basil before him in 1986.
“We’re very proud of Coach Watson and Coach Adams for being selected as coaches this year in a game which highlights the best players from around the state,” added Athletic Director Jay Hopson. “It’s a testament to their skill and commitment to the game to be selected, and there’s no better mentor for great players than these guys.”
