STEENS — Columbus Christian Academy on Friday announced Marcus Davidson as the newest athletic director for the Rams.
Formerly at Wayne Academy, where he coached football, cross country and track and field, Davidson will be the new defensive coordinator for CCA as they move up to 11-man football.
“Columbus Christian believed in me and gave me the opportunity to be their AD,” Davidson said. “… The fact that they are wanting to get back to 11-man and that they’re wanting their school to grow, we’re looking to help be a part of that.”
He will also be the boys basketball and boys track and field coach. Davidson takes over the AD role from Billy Thomas. Thomas will remain the girls basketball and girls track and field coach.
“I’ve known Coach Davidson for a long time, probably 15 years,” Thomas said. “We’ve coached against each other so we’re really familiar with each other. He’s familiar with the school. I reached out to him during basketball season … It’s just going to be a great fit.”
This move brings him full circle back to the Columbus area for the first time in more than a decade. His first day with the Rams is June 5.
“My wife’s family is from West Point and we knew we wanted to get back into the area some day,” Davidson said. “This opportunity presented itself quicker than expected.”
