CHOCTAW — The Caledonia softball team beat Choctaw Central 9-3 in Thursday’s road game in Choctaw.
The Confederates (3-0) scored five runs in the first two innings to get out ahead and stay there.
Ashlyn Jordan drove in two runs for Caledonia to lead the team. Jada Glasgow and Allison Pennington each went 3 for 4, and Maddy Suggs went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
Pennington doubled twice, and Suggs had a double. Glasgow and Carlee Dale each had a triple.
Dale pitched all seven innings in the circle, allowing two earned runs and four hits. She walked three and struck out five.
Caledonia hosts Eupora at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Starkville 24, Starkville Christian 0
STARKVILLE — The Starkville High School softball team made a quick statement in Thursday’s home game against Starkville Christian.
The Yellow Jackets (2-0) scored 11 runs in the first inning and 13 in the second, earning a 24-0 win in just three innings and only two team trips to the plate.
Karlie Brooks went 2 for 3, driving in six runs out of the leadoff spot for Starkville. Jacquasha Brown went 3 for 3 with three RBIs, and Kyler Reeves went 1 for 4 and drove in three runs.
Allyson Barefield was 2 for 2 with a walk, scoring three times. Ten Jackets had at least one hit; 11, including a courtesy runner, scored a run.
Reeves pitched three scoreless innings for a short complete game, walking one batter and striking out five.
Starkville will host Noxapater at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
