WEST LOWNDES — West Lowndes improved to 2-3 on the season in impressive fashion on Friday night, taking advantage of homecoming week with a 42-6 win over Byhalia.
Just one more non-district game remains for the Panthers before a three-game district schedule, destined to be difficult. Friday’s win tied the most points scored for West Lowndes in a game this season, matching their season-opening 42-point display against French Camp Academy.
West Lowndes closes out non-district play this Friday night against North Pontotoc, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
Noxubee County 39, Itawamba Agricultural 14
MACON — Noxubee County got back to .500 on the season, dismantling Itawamba Agricultural at home, 39-14, on Friday night.
The Tigers (3-3) closed out non-district play with a bang, showcasing an explosive offense that scored 39 or more points for the third time this season and the third time in their last four games.
Noxubee starts district play on the road, taking on Kemper County at 7 p.m. Friday.
Kosciusko 42, Caledonia 28
KOSCIUSKO — Caledonia began district play on Friday against Kosciusko, coming up short in a 42-28 loss on the road. The Cavs led by 15 at halftime but were shut out in the second half.
The Cavaliers (3-3, 0-1 in district) continued their offensive success, scoring 28 or more points for the third-straight week, but the defense could not slow down a balanced Kosciusko attack once it got rolling, surrendering more than 24 points for the first time this season.
Caledonia heads into a bye week this week and will return to district play on Oct. 13 at home against Louisville.
Calhoun Academy 42, Hebron Christian 6
CALHOUN CITY — Hebron Christian suffered a 36-point defeat on the road on Friday night against Calhoun Academy in district play, a 42-6 loss.
It’s the fourth time this season that the Eagles (1-5, 0-2 in district)) have scored 10 or fewer points in a loss and the fourth time Hebron has allowed 40 or more points to opponents.
Hebron will travel to play Delta Academy in its next game at 7 p.m. Friday in a non-district contest.
Carroll Academy 18, Columbus Christian Academy 0 (forfeit)
Columbus Christian Academy forfeited its game on Friday against Carroll Academy, resulting in an 18-0 win for Carroll.
The Rams are now 0-7 overall and 0-2 in district play.
CCA will travel to play North Delta Academy in its next game at 7 p.m. Friday.
Central Tuscaloosa (Ala.) 55, Aliceville (Ala.) 6
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Friday night was a night to forget for Aliceville (Ala.), losing 55-6 to Central Tuscaloosa (Ala.) on the road in non-district play.
Those 55 points were the most allowed by the Yellowjackets (1-5) this season, the third time in four games Aliceville has allowed 40 or more points to opponents.
The Jackets host Lamar County (Ala.) in district play in their next game at 7 p.m. Friday.
Jackson Academy (Ala.) 44, Pickens Academy (Ala.) 20
JACKSON, Ala. – Pickens Academy (Ala.) fell on the road against Jackson Academy (Ala.), 44-20, in a non-district game on Friday night.
The Pirates (1-5) have scored just 91 points this season, with roughly 20 percent of their point total on the season coming in Friday’s loss. It was the second time Pickens allowed 40 or more points to opponents and the fourth time allowing more than 30 points in a game.
The Pirates will return to district play this week, traveling to play Escambia Academy (Ala.) at 7 p.m. Friday.
