STARKVILLE — Starkville boys and girls basketball took care of business against Greenwood on Thursday night, both recording victories of more than 40 points.
The girls team got things started with an impressive 83-12 win as five different players finished in double figures, led by Zariyah Edwards and Jamaica Young, who each had 18 points. The Yellow Jackets (5-0) also saw Kendel Thompson and Ciara Warren score 12 points each and Antaja Harkins score 10 points.
The boys team followed with a 75-33 win, led by senior Makhi Myles, who scored a game-high 26 points, nearly outscoring Greenwood by himself. Connor Rogers and David Washington also had strong games for the Yellow Jackets (5-1).
The Starkville girls will travel to play Vicksburg in their next game at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the boys will play Grissom (Alabama) at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Lighthouse Classic in Corinth.

NEW HOPE — New Hope girls basketball was dominant at home against Aberdeen on Thursday night, winning 49-26.
Lailah Henderson led the Trojans (2-2) with 13 points in the victory, a convincing one for New Hope, who got back to the .500 mark.
New Hope will take on Okolona in its next game at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 25.
Starkville Academy 36, Lamar School 33
MERIDIAN — Starkville Academy won a hard-fought game on the road against Lamar School on Thursday night, a 36-33 victory.
The Volunteers (6-3) were led by forward Katie Keenum, who scored eight points. Defense was what won the game for the Vols in the end.
Starkville Academy will travel to play Lewisburg in the Oxford Tournament at 3 p.m. Monday.

New Hope 68, Aberdeen 31
NEW HOPE — New Hope boys basketball took care of business at home against Aberdeen on Thursday night with a 68-31 win.
It was all Trojans (2-1) from start to finish as New Hope got back over the .500 mark in the early going this season.
New Hope’s next game will be Monday in the Tuscaloosa Central Shootout.
Starkville Academy 54, Lamar School 47
MERIDIAN — Starkville Academy boys basketball defeated Lamar School on the road on Thursday night, 54-47.
The Volunteers (5-0) were led by Rett Keenum, who led all scorers with 18 points and was a dominant force in the middle.
Starkville Academy will travel to play Lewisburg in the Oxford Tournament at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Sulligent (Ala.) 68, Caledonia 65
SULLIGENT, Ala. — Caledonia boys basketball suffered a close defeat on the road against Sulligent (Alabama) on Thursday, losing 68-65.
The game was close the entire night as the Cavaliers (4-2) were able to stay competitive but couldn’t pull off the win in the end.
Caledonia will host Hatley in its next game at 5 p.m. Friday.

MSMS 7, Shannon 0
The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science girls soccer team had its best performance of the season on Thursday evening, winning 7-0.
After a tough 4-3 loss against Columbus on Monday, this was the bounce-back match that the Blue Waves (2-1) were looking for, scoring a season-high in goals in a match.
MSMS will take on Kemper County in its next match at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 29.
Caledonia 3, Tupelo Christian Prep 0
CALEDONIA — Caledonia girls soccer continued its hot start to the 2022-23 season with a 3-0 victory over Tupelo Christian Prep on Thursday night.
The Cavaliers (4-2) have now won three straight matches and haven’t conceded a goal in any of their four wins this season, outscoring opponents 24-0 in those matches.
Caledonia will take on Saltillo in its next match at 9 a.m. Saturday.

CALEDONIA — Caledonia boys soccer won its first match of the year in convincing fashion, a 7-0 victory over TCPS on Thursday night.
The win snapped a five-match winless skid to begin the season for the Cavaliers (1-5).
Caledonia will take on Saltillo in its next match at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science boys soccer team dominated Shannon on Thursday, winning 7-0.
It was another strong showing from the Blue Waves (4-0), who have outscored opponents 24-2 this season so far.

Heritage Academy 1, Trailblazers FC 1
Heritage Academy and Trailblazers FC played to a 1-1 draw on Thursday.
The Patriots (1-1-1) are now winless in their last two matches, picking up their first draw of the season in the process Thursday night.
Heritage Academy will play Starkville Academy in its next match at 5 p.m. Dec. 1.
