STARKVILLE — An exciting baseball game in Starkville ended in a Starkville Academy victory as the Volunteers walked off Corinth in the seventh inning, 5-4.
Jake Lockhart was the hero with a walk-off hit in the seventh, but it was Wyatt Hedges who led the Vols (3-6) with two RBIs in the win. On the mound, Julian Kraker and Justin Ming combined to give up four runs in seven innings pitched.
Starkville Academy will travel to play Madison-Ridgeland Academy in its next game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Heritage Academy 13, Kossuth 12
BOONEVILLE — Heritage Academy outlasted Kossuth, 13-12, in a barnburner of a game played at Northeast Mississippi Community College on Monday night.
Five Patriots hitters had multi-hit games in the win, and Heritage benefited from six Kossuth errors, recording 12 hits as a team.
Jack Tompkins came up big on the mound late to help seal the deal.
Heritage Academy will play Oak Hill Academy in its next game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

STARKVILLE — Starkville tennis defeated Heritage Academy, 4-3, on Tuesday night.
The Yellow Jackets won both singles matches, with Martina Hoffman defeating Kaylee West in girls singles, 6-1,6-3, and Dean Luke Lockhart not dropping a point in the boys singles match against Spencer Ward.
Heritage won both girls doubles matches in straight sets and the two split the two boys doubles matches, with mixed doubles, the tiebreaker in the match, going to Starkville in straight sets.
Starkville plays Columbus in its next match at 4 p.m. while Heritage Academy heads to play Pontotoc on the road in its match on March 6.
Caledonia 5, New Hope 2
Caledonia tennis defeated New Hope, 5-2, on Monday afternoon.
The Cavaliers dominated in singles matches as Avs Moore didn’t drop a point in a straight-set win over Kamaria Key, 6-0,6-0, and Austin Logan took care of things in straight sets against Jackson Grady, 6-2,6-3.
In girls doubles, Caledonia took both in straight sets, but in boys doubles, New Hope dominates, dropping just two points in their two match wins. The Trojans also won in mixed doubles, 6-4,6-4.
Caledonia’s next match will be against MSMS on March 6 while New Hopes travels to face Starkville Academy in its next match at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
