MACON — Noxubee County comfortably secured the second seed in Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A, District 5, on Friday night with a 48-0 beatdown of McLaurin.
The Tigers (6-4, 3-1 in district) ended the season on a three-game winning streak, overcoming a tough district-opening loss against Kemper County to finish strong. Noxubee County outscored opponents 135-6 in its final three games of the season, averaging 45 points per game during that stretch.
Noxubee also scored 39 points or more in each of its final five games and seven out of its last eight games of the season.
The Tigers will host South Pike in the first round of the MHSAA Class 3A Playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday.
Winston Academy 57, Oak Hill Academy 20, MAIS Class 4A playoffs, first round
LOUISVILLE — Oak Hill Academy’s 2023 season came to an end on Friday night as the Raiders fell to Winston Academy, 57-20, in the first round of the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Class 4A playoffs.
OHA finished the season with a 3-8 record but showed fight against the Patriots, ultimately coming up short in the end
Lafayette 50, New Hope 7
OXFORD — New Hope fell to 0-9 on the season and 0-4 in district play following a 50-7 road loss against Lafayette on Friday night.
It’s the fifth time this season that the Trojans have been held to 10 or fewer points, and the Commodores’ 50 points were the most points New Hope has given up this season.
The Trojans finish up their season this Thursday, hosting West Point at 7 p.m.
Aliceville (Ala.) 46, Green County (Ala.) 6
ALICEVILLE, Ala. — Aliceville (Ala.), despite a 1-5 start overall and an 0-2 start in district play, closed its season out on a four-game winning streak, culminating with a 46-6 win over Greene County (Ala.) on Friday night.
It was the KeAnthony Wilder show again for the Yellowjackets (5-5, 4-2 in district), as the senior quarterback threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns in the air and run for 135 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Aliceville (Ala.) has a bye week before the postseason, traveling to play Lexington (Ala.) for the first time at 7 p.m. Nov. 10.
Pickens Academy (Ala.) 36, Morgan Academy (Ala.) 32
SELMA, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Ala.) ended its season on a high note on Friday night, defeating Morgan Academy (Ala.), 36-32, on the road.
The Pirates (2-8, 0-4 in district) notched their first win since Week 4 against Coosa Valley Academy (Ala.), snapping a five-game losing skidl.
Despite the win, Pickens Academy will not be heading to the postseason following a winless campaign in district play.
