GREENWOOD — Heritage Academy has assured itself the No. 1 seed in MAIS Class 5A come the postseason with an impressive 35-17 win over Pillow Academy on Friday night.
The Patriots finished up their regular-season schedule at 9-1 with a perfect 5-0 record in conference play.
Heritage Academy will receive a bye and will await its opponent for its first playoff game.
Starkville Academy 39, Washington School 21
GREENVILLE — Starkville Academy secured itself a playoff spot on the final day of the regular season with a 39-21 road win over Washington School.
The Volunteers (7-4) ended their regular season on a three-game winning streak, finishing with a 3-2 record in conference play.
Starkville Academy will host Leake Academy in the first round of the MAIS Class 5A playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday.
Starkville 47, Oxford 28
OXFORD — Starkville scored 40 points or more for the fourth time this season, comfortably beating Oxford on the road, 47-28, on Friday night.
This was the second straight game that saw the Yellow Jackets (6-3) score 47 or more points, and these past two wins now put them at 2-3 in district play.
Starkville travels to play Germantown in its next game at 7 p.m. Friday.
West Lowndes 58, Ethel 26
ETHEL — West Lowndes had a much better week of practice this week, and it showed in an impressive 58-26 victory over Ethel on Friday night.
The Panthers (6-3) are now 4-2 in district play and scored 40 or more points for the third time this season and 50 or more points for the first time.
West Lowndes heads into the bye week with just one regular-season game remaining after it — at home Nov. 3 against Vardaman.
Lake Cormorant 35, New Hope 3
LAKE CORMORANT — New Hope lost its second straight game on Friday night, a tough 35-3 road loss against Lake Cormorant.
The Trojans (3-5) have now dropped to 1-4 in district play and just couldn’t get anything going against a tough Gators defense.
New Hope has two games remaining in its regular-season schedule, the next coming on the road against Cleveland Central at 7 p.m. Friday.
Marshall Academy 40, Oak Hill Academy 0
HOLLY SPRINGS — Oak Hill Academy lost its final game of the regular season, a 40-0 shutout loss against Marshall Academy on Friday night.
The Raiders (3-7) finished the season on a three-game losing streak, coming close against Central Holmes Christian but scoring just seven points in the two other losses.
Despite that, Oak Hill Academy averaged 21.6 points a game offensively on the year.
North Sunflower Academy 60, Columbus Christian Academy 8
DREW — Columbus Christian Academy dropped its final game of the 2022 regular season on the road against North Sunflower Academy, 60-8.
The Rams’ lone touchdown came with under 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter, a 52-yard touchdown reception to Grant Robinson from Garrett Weathers. Kory Davis converted the two-point try.
Columbus Christian Academy will host Prentiss Christian in the first round of the MAIS Class 2A playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday.
Deer Creek Academy 52, Hebron Christian 6
PHEBA — Hebron Christian wrapped up its 2022 schedule with a 52-6 loss to Deer Creek Academy on Friday night.
The Eagles went 0-10 on the year, scoring 10 or more points in a game twice, scoring just 34 points in its final eight games of the season.
Victory Christian Academy 36, Success Unlimited Academy (Ala.) 16
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Victory Christian Academy won its first game of the season, a 36-16 win over Success Unlimited Academy (Alabama) on Friday night.
This win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Eagles, who finished their season with a 1-6 record overall.
Banks Academy (Ala.) 34, Pickens Academy (Ala.) 6
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Alabama) dropped to 2-7 on the season after a 34-6 road loss against Banks Academy (Alabama) on Friday night.
The Pirates have now lost five straight games after beginning the season 2-2, with opponents averaging 35.4 points a game during that time.
Pickens Academy will finish up its regular-season schedule at home against Morgan Academy (Alabama) at 7 p.m. Friday.
Aliceville (Ala.) 44, Greene County (Ala.) 6
EUTAW, Ala. — Aliceville (Alabama) ended its regular season in style with a 44-6 win over Greene County (Alabama) on Friday night.
Yellow Jackets (9-1) quarterback Ty’Jarian Williams had four total touchdowns in the game: three on the ground and one in the air. Kevin Wilder and Jaboree Jones both had great days defensively, recording a combined three sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.
Aliceville will begin its playoff run at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at home against West End (Alabama).
