CLEVELAND — Heritage Academy boys basketball defeated Magnolia Heights, 37-35, in the final of the MAIS Class 5A, District 1 tournament on Saturday evening.
In their first years as head and assistant coaches, Zach Allison and Will Johnson won the district tournament. Heritage Academy (18-5) will now head to the MAIS Class 5A regional tournament at Simpson Academy in Mendenhall.
In girls basketball, the Patriots (16-14), who advanced to the final against Pillow Academy, lost 50-30 in the championship game.
Heritage Academy, a No. 3 seed in the tournament, finished as the runner-up and will also head to Mendenhall next week.

Heritage Academy 45, Bayou Academy 42
CLEVELAND — Heritage Academy girls basketball moved onto the finals of the MAIS Class 5A, District 1 tournament with a 45-42 win over Bayou Academy on Friday.
The Patriots (16-13) were led by Chloe Boyd with 15 points and Caroline Peal with 10 points. Lucy Sharp and Reagan Merchant also had nine points each for Heritage Academy, which advanced to the district championship game for the first time in 12 years.
Heritage Academy will face No. 3 Magnolia Heights in the district championship at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Rossville Christian Academy (Tenn.) 60, Oak Hill Academy 43
GRENADA — Oak Hill Academy girls basketball lost to Rossville Christian Academy (Tennessee) in the MAIS Class 4A, District 1 tournament semifinals, 60-43, on Saturday at Kirk Academy.
Harley Vaughn led the Raiders in scoring with 13 points in the loss. Mary Beth Briggs also had 10 points for OHA, who will be playing in a consolation game at 4 p.m. Monday.
Oak Hill Academy 52, North Delta School 36
GRENADA — Oak Hill Academy girls basketball defeated North Delta School, 52-36, in the first round of the MAIS Class 4A, District 1 tournament on Friday in Grenada.
Morgan Dabbs led the Raiders in scoring with 14 points and Mary Beth Briggs had 13 points in the win for Oak Hill.
