LOUISVILLE — The Noxubee County football team had an impressive showing in Friday’s two-quarter scrimmage at Louisville.
An 80-yard kickoff return by Antonio Fowler and a 70-yard catch-and-run from Chrishaad Rupert to Macardi Johnson helped the Tigers beat the Wildcats 14-7.
Noxubee County will play its season opener next Friday against Shannon in Macon.
West Lowndes 27, McAdams 0, scrimmage
West Lowndes blanked McAdams 27-0 in Friday’s two-quarter scrimmage.
The Panthers will travel to face Class 3A Kemper County in next Friday’s season opener.
Starkville Academy 29, French Camp Academy 7, scrimmage
STARKVILLE — Starkville Academy beat French Camp Academy 29-7 in a scrimmage Friday.
The Volunteers are 0-1 after a Week 1 loss to Lamar, but Friday’s game didn’t count in the standings because French Camp is an MHSAA program.
Randall Futral had touchdown passes of 70 yards to Wilkes Stubbs and 15 yards to Brady Johnson for the Vols. CJ Jackson had rushing touchdowns of 4 and 12 yards.
Starkville Academy hosts another MHSAA team, Noxapater, next Friday in Starkville.
Calhoun Academy 32, Hebron Christian 14
CALHOUN CITY — Hebron Christian fell to 0-2 with a 32-14 loss at Calhoun Academy on Friday.
Braeden Triplett scored both touchdowns for the Eagles with a 10-yard run in the first quarter and a 19-yard run in the second quarter. He finished 6 of 10 passing for 33 yards.
Doug Loden had kickoff returns of 50 and 19 yards and led the team with 14 tackles. Terry Loden had 11 and Jackson Langley had nine.
Bradley Scott had six catches for 30 yards and ran in a two-point conversion on Triplett’s first touchdown.
Dylan Dupont had six carries for 12 yards.
“We played better than last week, but we have to improve on our blocking and our tackling,” coach David Foster said.
Hebron hosts district foe Ben’s Ford Christian next Friday in Pheba.
Alabama
Pickens Academy 55, Coosa Valley Academy 0
Pickens Academy improved to 2-0 with a 55-0 shutout win over Coosa Valley Academy on Friday night in Carrollton, Alabama.
The Pirates will play at Sparta Academy next Friday in Evergreen.
Gordo 30, Aliceville 12
GORDO — Gordo High School beat Aliceville 30-12 on Thursday night in Gordo to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Green Wave quarterback Tanner Bailey was 7 of 14 for 108 yards and two touchdowns, including one to running back RayShawn Williams. Williams also ran for 140 yards and a score on 20 carries.
Bailey had a 35-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin Capps, and Izayah Edwards had a 7-yard touchdown run.
Gordo converted two safeties during the contest.
Aliceville scored on a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tyjarian Williams to Landon Ball and a 2-yard scoring run by Jermaine Brewer.
The Yellow Jackets are 1-1 after taking advantage of Greene County’s forfeit in Week 1. Aliceville hosts Addison next Friday.
Gordo plays at Oak Grove next Friday in Bessemer.
