Heritage Academy (2-1) passed its first test against an MAIS Class 5A team on Friday, beating district opponent Magnolia Heights 35-21.

HOUSTON — New Hope (0-1) lost its season opener on Friday at Houston High School, 20-7.

Amory 44, Caledonia 33
AMORY — Caledonia (0-1) lost a 44-33 shootout on Friday at Amory.
Panthers quarterback Hunter Jones took advantage of the Caledonia defense to throw for 325 yards and five touchdowns. Jones finished 18 of 25 and was intercepted once.
Caledonia quarterback Daniel Wilburn was 3 of 4 for 54 yards and a touchdown as well as 16 carries for 90 yards on the ground.
Darius Triplett caught the touchdown pass from Triplett, finishing with two catches for 49 yards and the score. Triplett also had five carries for 107 yards and a touchdown, while Curtavis Johnson ran 20 times for 99 yards and a score. Kewon Wyatt had 14 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts.
Triplett added an interception for Caledonia, whose next game is at home Friday against Heritage Academy (2-1).
Kemper County 33, West Lowndes 14
SCOOBA — West Lowndes (0-1) was defeated in Friday’s season opener against Kemper County, 33-14.
No statistics were available from the contest, which was played at East Mississippi Community College.
It was the first game for former Starkville High School assistant Ra’Shaun Westerfield as Kemper County’s head coach.
West Lowndes will play at Hamilton (1-0) next Friday.
Noxubee County 39, Shannon 0
MACON — Bobby Shanklin rushed for two touchdowns as Noxubee County (1-0) shut out Shannon 39-0 in Friday’s home opener in Macon.
Shanklin had 14 carries for 95 yards, while Anthony Little had 66 yards and a score on just four attempts.
Quarterback Chrishaad Rupert was 9 of 18 passing for 125 yards and a touchdown, and Macardi Johnson returned a punt for a 48-yard score.
Mushune Walker and Shunterrion Sherrod each had interceptions.
Trillo Brown had 11 tackles, and Travorus Hatcher had five tackles and two sacks.
Noxubee County will play at Philadelphia High School (0-1) next Friday.
Starkville Academy 52, Noxapater 26
STARKVILLE — Quarterback Randall Futral ran for three touchdowns and passed for another as Starkville Academy (1-1) beat Noxapater 52-26 in Friday’s home game.
Running back CJ Jackson added two rushing scores for the Volunteers.
Colby Allen had a rushing touchdown, and Brody Bennett caught Futral’s pass for a score.
Starkville Academy will play at Magnolia Heights (2-1) next Friday in Senatobia.
Lee Academy (Ark.) 60, Columbus Christian Academy 14
STEENS — Columbus Christian Academy fell to 0-3 with a 60-14 loss to Lee Academy (Arkansas) in Friday’s home game.
Tyler Looney ran for 113 yards and caught an 86-yard touchdown pass from Drake Shaw, who finished with 123 yards passing.
Caleb Farlow scored the Rams’ other touchdown.
Lahndon Townley ran in a two-point conversion after Looney’s touchdown and led the team on defense with three tackles. Looney had two tackles, while Shaw, Landon Kinard, and Logan Bandre each had one.
Columbus Christian will play at Marvell Academy (Arkansas) next Friday.
Ben’s Ford Christian (La.) 56, Hebron Christian 38
PHEBA — Hebron Christian School (0-3) lost to district foe Ben’s Ford Christian School (Louisiana) in Friday’s home game, 56-38.
Braeden Triplett had rushing scores of 6 and 7 yards for Hebron as well as a two-point conversion. He finished with 60 yards on 13 carries on the ground and was 6 of 14 passing for 119 yards with a touchdown.
Dash Turman had five catches for 109 yards, including an 8-yard receiving score from Triplett, and a two-point conversion. Jon Garrett Lowe had a 10-yard catch and also returned a kickoff 55 yards for a touchdown.
Doug Loden had 126 yards on 15 carries, including a 5-yard touchdown run.
Bradley Scott ran 13 times for 71 yards. He also ran in a two-point conversion.
Jackson Langley had 12 tackles for Hebron to lead the team. Doug Loden had eight, and Terry Loden had seven. Scott had four, and Kenneth O’Brian had three.
Hebron coach David Foster said his team moved the ball better on offense but still needs to cut down on missed assignments and limit big plays. Overall, Foster said, the Eagles played much better as a team than they did the prior two weeks.
Hebron will play at Delta Academy next Friday in Marks.
Alabama
Aliceville 36, Addison 34, OT
Aliceville outlasted Addison 36-34 in overtime on Friday in Aliceville.
Tyjarian Williams was 11 of 14 passing for the Yellowjackets (2-1) for 199 yards and four touchdowns.
All four scoring passes of 8, 55, 28 and 5 yards were to Landon Ball, who also had a rushing touchdown.
After Addison’s Nelson Martin scored to open overtime but the Bulldogs couldn’t complete the two-point conversion, Williams found Ball for the final time, and Ball ran in the two-point try for the victory.
Ball finished with 165 receiving yards for Aliceville.
Alabama will play at Sulligent (0-3) next week.
