CALEDONIA — The New Hope baseball team outlasted rival Caledonia 6-5 in eight innings Friday in Caledonia.
Cole Ruffin had the winning single for the Trojans in the eighth inning, driving in Gates Gerhart for the go-ahead run.
Presley Hall led New Hope with two runs batted in, while Peyton McCollum had two RBIs for Caledonia.
McCollum went 2 for 3 with a double, while Tony Brooks, Nathan McLemore and Thomas Tucker all had two hits for the Confederates (4-2).
David Young, Ryan Burt and Zac Butler all had two hits for New Hope (3-1).
Heritage Academy 8, Columbus 2
The Heritage Academy baseball team went 2-0 at the Heritage Academy Invitational with an 8-2 win over Columbus High School on Saturday afternoon in Columbus.
Cole Ketchum and former Falcon KJ Smith each drove in two runs for the Patriots in the victory.
Ketchum struck out six Columbus hitters in his two innings on the mound.
Jamad Horn drove in a run for the Falcons (0-4) and struck out three batters in four innings.
Columbus also lost 6-3 to Lee Academy earlier Saturday. The Falcons play at Nettleton at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Heritage Academy (5-1) will play at Louisville at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Oak Hill Academy 6, Lee Academy 5
Oak Hill Academy beat Lee Academy 6-5 in the final game of the Heritage Academy Invitational on Saturday in Columbus.
The Raiders (2-2) will play at Starkville Academy at 6 p.m. Monday.
Caledonia 26, Hamilton (Ala.) 4
Caledonia beat Hamilton (Alabama) 26-4 on Saturday to move to 4-2 on the season.
The Confederates will play at New Hope on Tuesday, weather permitting.
Oak Grove 12, Starkville 10
MERIDIAN — Starkville High School lost 12-10 to Oak Grove on Saturday night at Meridian High School.
Koby Livingston led the Yellow Jackets with three runs batted in.
Ethan Pulliam pitched four innings with five strikeouts for Starkville, and Banks Perry struck out three in three innings.
Starkville (4-2) hosts West Point at 7 p.m. Monday.
West Lauderdale 6, Starkville 3
COLLINSVILLE — Starkville also lost a road game at West Lauderdale 6-3 earlier Saturday in Collinsville.
Jack Perry pitched six innings with four strikeouts for the Jackets, but the Knights broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth to give Starkville its first loss.
Jack Perry and Pulliam each drove in a run, and Livingston had two of Starkville’s six hits.
Starkville 17, Amory 7, Friday
STARKVILLE — Starkville High School continued its hot hitting with a 17-7 rout of Amory in five innings at home Friday.
Seven runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth put the game away for the Yellow Jackets (4-0).
Tae Lucious had two hits and three RBIs to lead Starkville, and Banks Perry led the team with two hits while driving in two runs.
Brennon Wright struck out three in three innings of work, and Izak Hanson fanned two in two innings.
Starkville Academy 3, Bayou Academy 1, Friday
CLEVELAND — Starkville Academy held off Bayou Academy 3-1 in the Volunteers’ first road game of the season.
Garrett Lewis pitched six innings for Starkville Academy (7-0) with nine strikeouts, and Colby Allen struck out two hitters.
Lewis and Michael Winfield each drove in runs for the Vols, and Winfield led the team with two hits.
Starkville Academy hosts Oak Hill Academy at 6 p.m. Monday.
Kosciusko 10, West Point 0, Friday
KOSCIUSKO — West Point was shut out 10-0 in five innings Friday at Kosciusko.
The Green Wave (1-3) had just two hits on the night against the Whippets, who scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the run rule.
Noah Essary struck out three batters in three innings for West Point, and Blake Watson struck out two in 1⅓ innings.
West Point will play at Starkville on Tuesday.
