NEW HOPE — Tuesday afternoon added another name to the New Hope baseball pipeline to college as senior outfielder Pate Tolleson signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Blue Mountain Christian University.
Tolleson primarily played left field for the Trojans, who went 22-9 this season, losing in the second round of the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A playoffs.
He recorded seven RBIs, 18 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 20 games with an on-base percentage of .440.
“I’m excited to get down there and get to work,” Tolleson said. “I love the coaches and the program that they have put together down there. The atmosphere and the campus is just so welcoming. It was definitely the right choice.”
Tolleson joins Hayden Dodson and Sam Malone as the trio of Trojans who will be playing baseball at the next level next season.
“Pate is a true team player that is an absolute joy to coach,” New Hope head coach Lee Boyd said. “He’s one of the hardest workers we’ve had come through the program. Very excited that he is getting a chance to play college baseball.”
