Pollorena had never thrown over 100 pitches in a game — he picked a good time to do it. The left-hander pitched six scoreless innings and gave up just five hits. He struck out three and walked three on 118 pitches.
After just two innings, Pollorena had reached 50 pitches. He was aided by an eight-pitch third inning and a pair of solid grabs by shortstop Jonathan Ogden.
Closer Caleb Reed came on and earned the save.

The Golden Eagles” most consistent pitcher had a typical performance, going deep into the game and keeping his team in the game.
He went over six innings in a start for the fifth straight game and worked into the ninth inning for the second consecutive start.
McInnis gave up three runs on seven hits, including a two-run single to right from Brent Brownlee in the sixth inning that gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.
However, the Golden Eagles” struggles at the plate continued as their scoreless innings streak climbed to 24.

Up to that point, MSU had clinged to a 1-0 lead made possible by Nick Vickerson”s RBI single in the first inning.
MSU stranded five runners up until the sixth inning, a run that included a strikeout by Jarrod Parks with runners on the corners in the fifth inning.
Brownlee subbed into the game for Trey Johnson — who struck out twice — in the fifth inning and had the table set when Vickerson walked and Shepherd singled to stat the sixth. A sacrifice bunt from Cody Freeman moved both runners into scoring position before Brownlee smacked the single past an infield that was playing up.
