Starkville – Mississippi State University is debuting a number of new features to Davis Wade Stadium this season, beginning with a night game against Arizona State on Sept. 6.
Local media were given a sampling of concessions and the new lighting features on Monday, along with a presentation on the new features confirmed by the university in a press release today.
Per Athletic Director Zac Selmon, the university spent more than $9 million upgrading the stadium and providing vital structural reinforcement to continue extending the life of a stadium that has been in use since 1914 and continues to support major expansions and renovations.
Changes for the 2025 season include several cosmetic upgrades, notably LED lights and boards allowing for synchronized light shows with music and videos. The stadium will also feature additional fireworks and pyrotechnics from added launch points around the stadium and concourse.
“Mississippi State fans and students are at the heart of everything we do, and we know the importance of taking a customer-focused approach to the gameday experience at Davis Wade
Stadium and each of our home venues,” Selmon said. “Our team has worked tirelessly over the last year to bring elements from both the collegiate and professional levels to ensure our fan experience is second to none. I can’t wait for Bulldog fans to see what we have in store for them starting with the debut of our new LED lights on Sept. 6.”
Work also began on renovating the stadium’s sound and speaker system, though work will continue next offseason.
In terms of structural renovations, the university paid for reinforcements to the structure in the west stands, a structure first built in the 1920s, as well as the restructuring of bathrooms and concession booths. Among the concession changes are added space to reduce crowding in lines, as well as beverage-only lines.
The university also introduced a partnership with Wayfyndr, which will provide fans with an interactive gameday interface to assist with finding parking, provide centralized gameday updates and information, and generate a 3-dimensional map of the stadium to help find sections and seating.
The university announced a 10-year facilities plan, which includes several upgrades to Davis Wade Stadium, in January. The plan will eventually provide an expansion to the west side of the stadium and additional corporate and box seating in the south end zone, officially closing in the lower bowl where the M Club is located.
