Mississippi State men’s basketball announced its finalized nonconference schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 season this week, including a trip to the home of the Utah Jazz.
The Bulldogs will open the regular season with a matchup against North Alabama at Humphrey Coliseum on Wednesday, Nov. 5, and following a neutral site game against Iowa State in Sioux Falls, S.D., will return home for a game against Southeastern Louisiana 10 days later.
The team added dates for nonconference games against SMU, Utah and Memphis. The Bulldogs will host SMU at home on Black Friday, ahead of their trip to face Georgia Tech in the ACC/SEC challenge, and will play against the Utes at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Dec. 13. The Bulldogs will then play Long Island and Memphis in Starkville leading up to Christmas, and will wrap the nonconference slate with a home fixture against Alabama State on Dec. 29.
The Bulldogs face a talented list of opponents. All nine of their SEC home opponents made appearances in the NCAA Tournament last season, including Final Four team Auburn. The Bulldogs will also face Elite Eight teams Alabama and Tennessee.
The team is led by fourth-year head coach Chris Jans, who enters the season with a 63-40 record at the helm in Starkville. Jans has led the Bulldogs to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, but hasn’t yet led the team past the opening game.
