Four-star recruit King Grace, the No. 67 prospect in the ESPN recruiting rankings for the class of 2025, committed to Mississippi State on Sunday, becoming the highest-rated commit of the Chris Jans era.
The No. 48 national prospect according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Grace, a 6-foot, 5-inch shooting guard, is from Dallas and had offers from LSU, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, as well as Houston, Kansas State, Texas Tech and more. He has not yet taken an official visit to Starkville but is now the second four-star from the Dallas area in his class to commit to MSU, joining small forward Cameren Paul.
As a high school junior, Grace averaged 22 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, as well as 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks. His Waxahachie team finished 23-11 and 12-2 in district play, reaching the third round of the state tournament.
The Bulldogs have just two true freshmen on their current roster, with guard Dellquan Warren and forward EJ Paymon. MSU already has a four-star commit for the class of 2026 in center Ladarius Givan, the top-ranked player in the state of Alabama.
Bulldogs to play neutral-site games across the state
MSU released its full non-conference schedule Monday, a slate that will see the Bulldogs play neutral-site games in Southaven, Tupelo and Jackson.
Jans’ team thrived in neutral-site games last year, and those games also help a team’s NET ranking more than home games do. After opening the season with home games against West Georgia, Georgia State and Southeastern Louisiana, MSU will play Utah at the Landers Center in Southaven on Nov. 17.
That is followed by a trip to SMU on Nov. 22, and then the Bulldogs head to Tempe, Arizona, for a multi-team event where they will play UNLV on Nov. 28 and either Butler or Northwestern the following day. MSU returns home to play Pittsburgh as part of the ACC-SEC Challenge on Dec. 4 and Prairie View A&M on Dec. 8.
The Bulldogs have a date with McNeese at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo on Dec. 14 and a meeting with Central Michigan at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on Dec. 17. MSU then visits Memphis on Dec. 21 before taking a break for Christmas and closing out the non-conference portion of the schedule against Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 30.
