STARKVILLE — Mississippi State added a familiar name to its quarterbacks room Sunday afternoon.
Former Vanderbilt quarterback Mike Wright committed to the Bulldogs on Sunday, he announced on Twitter. Wright entered the transfer portal Dec. 5 at the end of the 2022 season.
Mostly playing behind AJ Swann for the Commodores, Wright completed 85 of 148 passes this season with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. He finished the year with a quarterback rating of 57.7.
Wright also ran 71 times for 517 yards and five touchdowns in 2022.
Wright’s second career start at quarterback for Vanderbilt came against Mississippi State. Then a sophomore, he delivered a solid showing, going 12 of 17 for 122 yards and a pick in a blowout win for the Bulldogs.
Wright is a native of Fayetteville, Georgia. He will have two remaining years of eligibility.
Also Sunday, Mississippi State picked up a commitment from Eastern Washington wide receiver Freddie Roberson.
Roberson caught 45 passes for 797 yards and seven touchdowns for the FCS school this year. He has one remaining year of eligibility.
