The high school soccer season in Mississippi will be extended slightly as a result of the winter weather that impacted a good portion of the state last week, leading to significant cancellations.
The Mississippi High School Activities Association has extended the soccer season one week, with the end of the regular season now scheduled for Feb. 1.
The original end of the season was to happen Thursday, but with this change, all MHSAA state championships have also been pushed back a week, set to take place on Feb. 16 and 17, respectively, at both Germantown and Ridgeland High School.
Class I will have its state championship on Feb. 16 while Class 4A-7A schools will have their state championship games on the 17th.
