STARKVILLE — Mississippi State running back Jo’Quavious ‘Woody’ Marks was one of 75 running backs selected to the Doak Walker Award Watch List on Wednesday.
The award is given out annually to the best running back in college football.
Marks, a senior out of Atlanta, is coming off his best season to date as a Bulldog, posting career-highs across the board in 2022 with 532 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, 5.2 yards per carry and 48.4 rushing yards per game.
His 806 all-purpose yards, including his 274 receiving yards, are the second-most in a single season for him.
While improving consistently in the rushing department, he’s been a prolific receiving back during his MSU career, holding the program record for most receiving yards as a running back.
He’s just nine catches away from tying the program record for most receptions as a running back as well.
Mississippi State opens the season at home Sept. 2 against Southeastern Louisiana.
