The Midsouth Association for Independent Schools has suspended all activities and athletic events for a week beginning Monday, the MAIS announced.
The suspension will be reconsidered on a week-to-week basis, and a decision on further suspension will be made Thursday.
“The MAIS will continue to evaluate this fluid situation and will provide updates as the latest information becomes available,” a statement from the MAIS read.
The organization had already suspended all athletics and recommended its member schools close for the week of March 16-20.
Heritage Academy, Starkville Academy, Columbus Christian Academy, Oak Hill Academy, Starkville Christian School and Hebron Christian School will be affected by the decision.
