STARKVILLE — Mississippi State women’s basketball and graduate student Jessika Carter continues to earn preseason accolades as the 2023-24 season inches closer.
On Friday, it was announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame that the forward is one of 20 selected to the Lisa Leslie Award watch list, given annually to the nation’s best center.
An All-SEC Second Team and All-SEC Defensive Team honoree last season, Carter averaged 14.8 PPG and 7.7 RPG for the Bulldogs, setting career-highs in scoring, passing and blocks per game (2.1 BPG).
Carter sits just 227 points away from 1,500 and 196 rebounds away from 1,000 in her career.
She was one of three Southeastern Conference players selected to the watch list, joining Tennessee’s Tamari Key and South Carolina’s Kamila Cardosa.
