PEARL — The Midsouth Association of Independent Schools has a new executive director, and one who will be recognizable to the Heritage Academy community. Barrett Donahoe was announced as the new MAIS leader earlier this month.
“I am eager to serve our association, its schools and its students with energy, dedication, and a deep belief in the power of independent education,” Donahoe said of the appointment.
Donahoe will take charge on March 1, 2025.
The search for a new director began in November after Shane Blanton announced he was stepping down for personal reasons.
“Barrett is well respected in our association and is known for his commitment to excellence,” said David Drake, the MAIS director of technology. “He graduated from one of our member schools and, after completing his college education, chose to return to the MAIS, where he has served multiple member schools in various capacities. I have had the privilege of working closely with Barrett in a number of areas over the years and am very excited to have someone with his skill set, work ethic and love for our association step in to lead the MAIS into the future.”
Donahoe was the Head of School at Pillow Academy until recently and was previously the head football coach at Heritage Academy from 2012 to 2015 and Marshall Academy in 2011 and again from 2016 to 2019.
