SCOOBA — For the first time in 13 years, East Mississippi Community College is fielding men’s and women’s soccer teams, both of which unveiled their 2023 season schedules Wednesday.
In total, the men’s team has an 18-match schedule, with 11 Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference matches, and the women’s team has a 16-match schedule, also with 11 MACCC matches.
Among some of the highlights of the 2023 season include men’s matches against Mississippi University for Women and Holmes Community College in Scooba in non-conference play, and Pearl River CC, Jones CC and Co-Lin CC in conference play.
For the women’s team, they’ll take on Division I opponent Alcorn State on Sept. 10, also playing Pearl River CC, Jones CC and Co-Lin CC in MACCC play.
The men’s team begins their season against MUW at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 in Scooba while the women’s team starts their season against Tougaloo College at 3 p.m. Aug. 20 in Scooba.
EMCC’s soccer matches will take place at Sullivan-Windham Field this season with former Holmes CC assistant Chris Rash guiding both programs.
