SCOOBA — The 2023 junior college football season is almost here and once again, all eyes are on East Mississippi Community College.
The five-time National Junior College Athletic Association champions are hungry for revenge following an 8-3 season in 2022, and preseason buzz has already begun.
JCGridiron named EMCC the No. 1 team nationally in its Preseason Dirty 30 Rankings, one of four Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference teams ranked for 2023.
In-state rival Jones Community College was the second-highest ranked MACCC team, landing at No. 3 in the Dirty 30.
Junior college football analyst Brad Hoiseth has tabulated these rankings for the past 18 years, and EMCC has been well-represented, earningSull four Dirty 30 national titles between 2011 and 2018.
Head coach Buddy Stephens and the Lions, the reigning MACCC champions, will begin their 2023 season at Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Sept. 7, with their home opener slated for Sept. 14 against Jones CC.
