For the first time since 2022, Ole Miss is Super Regional bound.
Rebels junior second baseman Dom Decker’s walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning gave No. 2 seed Ole Miss a 5-4 victory over No. 3 seed Arizona State Sunday night at Haymarket Park to clinch the Lincoln Regional. Ole Miss (39-21) awaits the winner of the Auburn Regional.
The Rebels defeated the Sun Devils 7-6 in 14 innings on Friday and defeated top-seeded host Nebraska in their second game of the regional.
With Sunday’s game tied 4-4, Rebels senior designated hitter Collin Reuter drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the 10th. Freshman pinch-runner Cannon Goldin advanced to second on a wild pitch, and a single from freshman pinch-hitter Luke Romine – just his third hit of the season – got runners to the corners and set the stage for Decker’s game-winner.
Junior catcher Austin Fawley doubled home sophomore outfielder Hayden Federico to tie the game with two outs in the seventh inning.
Rebels sophomore starter Cade Townsend surrendered three earned runs over five innings of work. He struck out seven batters and walked a season-high five. Sophomore Wil Libbert and sophomore JP Robertson combined to throw five scoreless innings in relief.
The Sun Devils (39-20) were without Big 12 Player of the Year Landon Hairston, who was ejected in their first game Sunday for tossing his bat following a strikeout.
