CLINTON — After defeating West Memphis Christian (Ark.) in the MAIS Class 2A championship game last week, Columbus Christian Academy girls basketball lost in the first round of the MAIS overall basketball tournament on Thursday morning, 73-65, to Clinton Christian Academy.
The Rams (27-13) trailed 36-33 at half before Clinton Christian out-scored them, 19-14, in the third quarter, separating just enough in what was a game decided by single-digits.
Faith Yeates led CCA with a 23-point, 13-rebound double-double in the loss, shooting 9-of-23 from the field and 4-of-8 from the foul line. Satavia Watkins followed close behind, scoring 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting overall and 4-of-8 shooting from the line.
Both her and Yeates led the Rams with four assists each. Overall, CCA shot 35.4 percent from the field, 6-of-15 (40 percent) from beyond the arc and 13-of-22 (59.1 percent) from the foul line.
