A Columbus man was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 69 early Sunday morning.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant identified the man as Jimmy David Latham III, 37, in a text message to media outlets.
At about 8:30 a.m., Latham was driving a Toyota Camry north on Hwy. 69 when the car collided with a southbound Nissan Pathfinder, Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Derrick Beckom wrote in a text to The Dispatch.
Latham sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Beckom said. The other driver was injured in the accident and taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Beckom said there was no indication in the crash report that either driver was impaired.
MHP is investigating what caused the crash.
