CALEDONIA — Caledonia followed up a season-opening loss with a massive home-opening victory against Itawamba Agricultural on Friday night, 23-21.
It was the first time in school history that the Cavaliers (1-1) had defeated IAHS, a team against whom they were previously 0-8.
Itawamba was held scoreless in the first half before scoring all its points in the second half, including 14 in the fourth quarter, but Caledonia prevailed in the end, allowing 22 or fewer points for the second-straight game to open the season.
Caledonia travels to play Amory in its next game at 7 p.m. Friday.
Starkville Academy 35, Carroll Academy 8
CARROLLTON — Starkville Academy improved to 4-0 this season after an impressive 35-8 win over Carroll Academy on the road on Friday night.
This is now the third-straight game that the Volunteers have scored 30 or more points, and the second-straight game that they’ve allowed 10 or fewer points. It’s also the second-straight 27-point win that SA has recorded.
The Vols are currently averaging just over 30 PPG offensively, allowing just over 11 PPG defensively.
Starkville Academy will play Carroll Academy on the road in its next game at 7 p.m. Friday.
Oak Hill Academy 36, Columbus Christian Academy 0
STEENS — Oak Hill Academy broke through with its first win of the season, a 36-0 shutout of Columbus Christian Academy in Steens.
The Raiders (1-2) took advantage of three CCA (0-3) turnovers: two interceptions and a fumble recovery, en route to victory. The Rams have still yet to score this season, allowing over 35 points a game to opponents so far.
OHA opens district play this Friday at home against Washington Academy while CCA hosts Delta Streets Academy this Friday.
Biggersville 33, Heritage Academy 13
BIGGERSVILLE — Heritage Academy dropped to 0-3 on the season with a 33-13 loss against Biggersville on the road on Friday.
The Patriots had their best performance of the season despite the loss, scoring a season-high 13 points and losing by a margin of 20 points, their closest game thus far. Heritage has given up an average of more than 32 points per game so far this season.
HA begins district play this Friday night at home, welcoming in Pillow Academy.
Kemper Academy 28, Hebron Christian 0
PHEBA — Hebron Christian dropped to 1-2 overall this season after being shut out by Kemper Academy at home, 28-0, on Friday night.
The Eagles have been shut out in both their losses this season, outscored 86-0 in those losses.
After opening up with three-straight home games, Hebron finally heads on the road this Friday, traveling to play West Memphis Christian (Ark.) at 7 p.m.
Center Point (Ala.) 22, Aliceville (Ala.) 14
CENTER POINT, Ala. — Aliceville (Ala.) dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 22-14 loss on the road on Friday night against Center Point (Ala.).
Quarterback Tyquan Simon completed 50 percent of his passes in the loss, throwing for 91 yards. He also ran for 25 yards and a touchdown for the Yellowjackets. Aliceville (Ala.) had 117 yards of total offense in the loss.
The Yellowjackets will travel to play Tuscaloosa Academy in their next game at 7 p.m. Friday.
Southern Academy (Ala.) at Pickens Academy (Ala.)
CARROLLTON, Ala. — Pickens Academy (Ala.) fell to 0-2 on the season, being shut out 38-0 at home against Southern Academy (Ala.) on Friday night.
In their two losses this season, the Pirates have managed just six points offensively, being outscored 79-6 overall.
Pickens Academy (Ala.) will host Patrician Academy (Ala.) at home at 7 p.m. Friday.
