STARKVILLE — Mississippi State softball continues to add experience to its roster this offseason as the Bulldogs landed Auburn transfer Jessie Blaine on Monday, the program announced.
Blaine was a top-15 recruit in 2021 according to Extra Innings Softball and played in 110 games in her two seasons with the Tigers.
“We are thrilled to add a player of Jessie’s caliber to our roster,” Bulldogs head coach Samantha Ricketts said in Monday’s press release. “She will make an immediate impact in our lineup and on defense.”
The catcher has current ties to the team in rising junior Josey Marron, Blaine’s batterymate on the travel ball circuit with Iowa Premier Gold Fastpitch.
Blaine also played both corner outfield spots and first base, but was primarily used as a designated player with the Tigers. She hit .263/.374/.444 during her Auburn tenure with 11 home runs and 55 RBIs, recording 42 walks to just 33 strikeouts.
“In talking to Coach Ricketts and her players, they described a blue-collar culture of hard work at Mississippi State,” Blaine said in Monday’s press release. “I found a program that will put in the work while loving the game and bettering each other.”
