STARKVILLE — Following last weekend’s Sweet 16 loss for Mississippi State, the Bulldogs earned a top-15 ranking in the final poll for TopDrawer Soccer in a historic season.
Mississippi State finished the season ranked No. 14 by TDS, its highest final ranking of the season, one coming after a year where it reached the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
The Bulldogs bowed out in Stanford, California, on Sunday afternoon, losing 1-0, to No. 2 seeded Stanford.
Putting the season into full context, Mississippi State finished with a 12-6-5 overall record and a 5-3-2 record in Southeastern Conference play.
The Bulldogs earned a top-four seed in the SEC Tournament for the first time, reaching the tournament semifinals for the first time as well after a thrilling victory over Alabama in a match that went to penalties.
MSU then proceeded to defeat Providence and Brown in the NCAA Tournament, the first time it had ever won two matches in one tournament.
The 2023 campaign is the second-straight successful one for the Bulldogs, who now head into the offseason looking to build for even more success next fall.
