TEMPE, Ariz. — Mississippi State women’s soccer looked to start out the 2023 season with two-straight wins Sunday night as it took on Arizona State in Tempe.
Despite dominating in shots, shots on goal and corner kicks, the Bulldogs drew against the Sun Devils, 0-0, concluding their season-opening West Coast swing with four points in two matches.
Mississippi State (1-1-0) attempted 13 shots to Arizona State’s three, out-shooting the Sun Devils, 8-3, in shots on goal.
Both Rylie Combs and Ruthny Marthurin each had two shots on goal to lead the Bulldogs while Molly McDougal led in total shots with three.
MSU also had six total corner kicks, three times as many as ASU.
Senior goalkeeper Maddy Anderson made three saves on the night, all in the second half.
The Bulldogs return to Starkville for their home opener against Northwestern State at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
