STARKVILLE — Mississippi State volleyball’s 2023 schedule, released Monday, is headlined by a number of NCAA tournament teams from 2022, plus more exciting matchups.
The Bulldogs will host two non-conference invitationals before Southeastern Conference play begins: the StarkVegas Classic and the Maroon & White Invite.
MSU begins its season with an exhibition match against UAB on Aug. 19 before the StarkVegas Classic and the Bulldogs’ first game against Eastern Kentucky on Aug. 25.
Highlighting the non-conference schedule for Mississippi State is UCF, one of four new teams to the Big 12 and a program that went 27-1 last season, advancing to the Round of 32 in the NCAA tournament.
All told, Mississippi State will play seven NCAA tournament teams from 2022, six of them coming from the Southeastern Conference.
Tennessee, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky and Auburn will be Mississippi State’s marquee matchups, with the Bulldogs playing home-and-home matches against LSU, Tennessee and Georgia, hosting Florida and Auburn, and traveling to play Kentucky.
This season’s Egg Bowl matchup against Ole Miss will be in Oxford on Nov. 19.
SEC play begins on Sept. 20 and the regular season for the Bulldogs concludes on Nov. 25 in Starkville, a 3 p.m. match against LSU.
Mississippi State is coming off a disappointing 2022 season following its first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2021. The Bulldogs went 15-13 overall and 8-10 in conference play.
