Julie Darty Dennis will have an entirely new coaching staff as she enters her eighth season at Mississippi State in 2025.
After adding Lacey Jeffcoat and Michael Bouril earlier this winter, the Bulldogs announced the addition of Ignacio Valdemoros to the staff on Monday. Valdemoros was most recently an assistant coach and performance analyst at Eastern Illinois.
A native of Argentina, Valdemoros spent three seasons with Eastern Illinois, and in 2023 he helped guide the Panthers to a 28-5 record, an Ohio Valley Conference title and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001. Last year, he was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Thirty Under 30 list, which includes men’s and women’s volleyball coaches who are considered rising leaders in the sport.
MSU is coming off an 11-14 season in 2024 with a 5-11 finish in Southeastern Conference play. The Bulldogs lose their top three attackers in terms of kills per set — Karli Schmidt, Kailin Newsome and Amina Shackelford — as well as setter Ceci Harness. Arissa Smith will be MSU’s most proven returner after leading the team with a .391 hitting percentage as a sophomore.
“I’m beyond excited to add Ignacio to our staff,” Darty Dennis said in a news release. “He has a wealth of experience that is going to elevate our program. In our conversations, you can feel his energy and excitement. Ignacio is exactly what we need here in StarkVegas to continue our momentum. I’m fired up to add Ignacio to our family.”
