OXFORD — Ole Miss freshman running back Quinshon Judkins has been named the Southeastern Conference freshman of the year by the league’s coaches, the SEC announced Wednesday.
Judkins was also chosen as the SEC freshman of the year by the Associated Press earlier in the week and was named first-team all-SEC by both the SEC’s coaches and the AP.
Judkins ran for 1,476 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, both of which led the SEC in the regular season. The Pike Road, Alabama, native set the Ole Miss single-season rushing and rushing touchdown records as well. He and junior Zach Evans helped the Rebels to the No. 3 rushing offense in college football, with an average of 261.6 yards per game.
Ole Miss (8-4, 4-4 SEC) faces Texas Tech (7-5, 5-4 Big 12) in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 28.
