I was a bit miffed to see Armstrong Williams perpetuating the lie that the “deranged left-wing mob” had anything to do with the Geisel family deciding to no longer publish six out of some 60 books they control. He goes on to say the “progressive left” and/or the “liberals of Hollywood” were involved in that decision. I don’t know how he came to that conclusion.
I haven’t heard the song he mentions, and, after his description, I have no urge to look it up. The song is apparently popular, showing up in the number one slot on Billboard, but it has won no awards. Making it to the top of Billboard is not a left-wing, right-wing thing. If you have that song on your playlist, go right ahead and listen to it. If you have “And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street” on your bookshelf, go right ahead and read it. No one is going to come after you for either thing.
I can’t tell if Armstrong Williams is suggesting that the song be removed from FM radio and satellite radio. I also can’t tell if he thinks the “deranged left-wing mob” should be leading the charge to get that song off the airwaves, or if it should be the conservative “reasonable Americans” who should be leading that charge to get that song off the airwaves. He doesn’t sound happy that it is there.
