I want to give the public the final details regarding the installation of the 2026 Class which will take place at the Trotter Convention Center on April 17, 2026 starting at 6:00 PM.
We are pleased to announce that Marcus Hunter will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event. Mr. Hunter is the news director for WCBI-TV. He is also an associate professor at Mississippi State. He is a 2001 graduate of Columbus High School where he was an outside linebacker on the 2000 football team that dethroned previous state champion Madison Central in the first round of the playoffs. He went on to play linebacker for coaches Jackie Sherrill and Sylvester Croom at Mississippi State from 2002-2004.
We are also pleased to announce that Sidney L. “Sid” Salter will be the keynote speaker at the event. Mr. Salter is Vice President for Strategic Communications and Director for Public Affairs at Mississippi State. In addition he is the administrator of campus radio station WMSV-FM and the University Television Center. He joined MSU in 2011 and taught courses in the Political Science and Communication departments. He wrote a successful biography of legendary MSU broadcaster Jack Cristil.
Also at the event Karen Stanley will reveal the details of a very special drawing. Thanks to a generous donation the LCSHOF has received two special footballs. These are commemorative Seattle Seahawks signature footballs. Both are signed by Mike Macdonald, the head coach of the Super Bowl champs. One is also signed by Leslie Frazier, the associate head coach of the Seahawks. Mr. Frazier was a 2025 inductee to the LCSHOF and the holder of three Super Bowl rings.
Please join us in honoring Billy Ray Adams, Samye Johnson, Tommy Lott Jr., Oliver Miller, Aubrey Nichols, Robert Smith, James T, Thomas, Derek Sherrod, and Doug Moulds. Ticket information may be found at lowndescountysportshalloffame.com.
