COLUMBUS — Sue “The Girl” Willie Brooks, 79, died Nov. 27, 2022, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Beulah Grove Full Gospel Baptist Church in Artesia, with Timothy Bourne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. today, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brooks was born June 14, 1943, in Brooksville, to the late Robert Lee Williams and Mandy Lee Stevenson. She was formerly employed with Head Start and in the cafeteria at West Lowndes Elementary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Williams, T.L. Williams and Jimmie Williams; and sister, Lizzie Shields.
She is survived by her husband, Jessie Brooks; children, Sandra K. Neal, Lionel Brooks, both of Artesia, Julian Brooks, Rolanda Brooks, Jeremy Brooks and Alicia Brooks, all of Columbus; sisters, Sallie Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee, Lois Bell of Flint, Michigan, Maria Brooks of Artesia, Marie Hairston of Columbus, Daisy Williams and Dorothy Williams, both of Memphis; brothers, Curtis Williams, Earnest Willaims, both of Flint; and Charlie Williams of Los Angeles, California; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers Donnie Harris, William Brown, Santonio Brooks, Roosevelt Hairston, Eugene Brown, Galean Petty, Quantavis Snell and Travonte Sherrod.
