Mr. Gore was born June 15, 1946, to the late John Albert Gore and Annie Louis Guin Gore, in Columbus, MS. He went by many names, but his favorites were Dad, Granddaddy, and Poppy. He was a devoted husband for 43 years to his late wife, Gayle. He was a romantic and often left her love notes hidden around the house. Gayle was his “girlfriend” and he was her “boyfriend.” He loved his family and wanted to cherish every moment. He worked many long hours and had to sacrifice time with family, but he always found ways to make his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren feel special. He gave each their own nickname. He will always be remembered by his family as selfless and hardworking. Even though he is gone, he will continue to put a smile on the faces of those that witnessed his clever and witty humor.
He worked for General Tire (Omnova) for 43 years. There he worked in industrial maintenance, production, and as a boilermaker. He also served as the Union President. He was nicknamed, “Magic.” He was known for his ingenuity and strong desire to do what was right.
His passion was missionary work. For many years, he and Gayle traveled to churches to sing gospel music. He also spent time with a prison ministry praying with and leading incarcerated men to Christ. One of his wishes is that his friends and family will continue to share his love of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Gore; son, Jeff Gore; sisters, Bobbie Endres and Rosemond Marie Gore; and brother, Buddie Gore.
Mr. Gore is survived by daughters, Suzey (Danny) Hooper, Lindsey (Ryan) Polk, Candace Dawn (Abdul) Aziz; sons, Mark (Debbie) Rigdon and Gene (Ashley) Gore; 11 grandchildren, Hunter (Lauren) Buchanan, Lexie (Alan) Castleman, Mara Leigh Ruth, Charlsie (Kye) Van Someren, Gavin Quinton, Sophia Aziz, Madison Rigdon, Ashlin Gore, Tyler Castille, Harrison Gore and Austin Cook; nine great- grandchildren, London Castleman, Chandler Van Someren, Koda Van Someren, Seth Polk, Evan Eugene Polk, Titus Buchanan, Maximus Buchanan, Blair Cook and Grayson Castille; daughter-in-law, Kathy Gore; and siblings, Billy Gore, Gwen Gore, John Gore, Kay Gore Burnett and Betsy Gore Roberson.
