E. C. Reeves, age 81 of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at Home Place Assisted Living, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held Monday, June 22, 2009 from 12 to 1 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 22, 2009 at 1PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Reeves was born July 16, 1927 in Monroe County, MS to the late Amanda Coleman and Emmett Reeves. He was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past sixty-one years having moved from Hamilton, MS. Mr. Reeves was a retired postal clerk with 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. 20th Air Force, a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and member of the Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reeves is preceded in death by his wife, Bess Reeves; sisters, Virginia Grant and Marie Smith and brother, L.D. Reeves. Mr. Reeves is survived by his sons, Emmett Harold Reeves, Houston, Tx; Larry Reeves, Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Lynn Reeves, Birmingham, AL; step-daughter, Joyce Freeman, Sacramento, CA; step-sons, Mike Manning and Bobby Manning both of Columbus, MS; fourteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tommy Southerland, Steve Chism, Craig Barfield, Winfred Sanderson, Archie Moore, Bobby Ward, Jimmy Elkins and Grady Partain. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the James Hargett Sunday School Class, members of the Pat Wallace Sunday School Class and Lavert Beaty.
