Police are investigating a Saturday shooting in East Columbus that left one woman with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded at about noon to reports of a gunshot victim at the 100 block of Poplar Street. Upon arrival, a female victim was found suffering a single gunshot wound to the shoulder and was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
A person of interest was questioned and later released, and no arrests have been made, according to Terence Ware, a detective for Columbus Police Department.
Ware said the shooting was not a drive-by shooting, though he did not share any further details about the incident.
“Investigators are out now still trying to gather information,” Ware told The Dispatch on Monday. “We have a few witnesses we’re talking to in reference to the shooting.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting is asked to contact CPD at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
