The Starkville Police Department arrested two Mississippi State University students this week after a passerby smelled marijuana coming from a residence in the Cotton District and called police.
Officers responded to the tip about possible marijuana use at 46 Holtsinger Ave. Tuesday at about 9:45 p.m. Upon further investigation, officers discovered 1/4-pound of high-grade marijuana in multiple packages.
Police charged James Brown, 20, of 1650 Country Club Road, Fulton, with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Samuel Ethan Flurry, 20, of 150 Kids Cove, Fulton, was charged with simple possession of marijuana.
The marijuana weighed between 200 and 250 grams and carried a street value of more than $5,000.

Tips given to Crime Stoppers could result in up to a $1,000 reward for the caller if the tip leads to an arrest of a suspect in a felony crime.
