CLAY COUNTY — Two Monroe County men were arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly burglarizing a workshop and a shed behind a home in Clay County.
Chadwick Trott, 52, of Hamilton, and Zachariah Carter, 44, of Amory, were both charged with two counts of burglary of a shed and grand larceny on Monday after stealing toolboxes, air tanks and other items from a shop located behind a home on Highway 50 west, Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott told The Dispatch.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was alerted at about 11:30 a.m. Monday to trespassers at the home. Deputies arrived within 10 minutes to find Trott and Carter on the scene with items stolen from a workshop and shed behind the residence, according to a press release shared by CCSO.
Scott said that while inventory of the stolen items is still underway, he estimates the items stolen to total at least $5,000.
Trott and Carter are being held at Clay County Detention Center with bonds set at $30,000 for each of them. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be added.
