LOWNDES COUNTY — Two people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident just after sunrise Monday morning.
Rosemary Bush, 46, of Artesia, was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after her 2002 Nissan Sentra was struck on the driver’s side by a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado — driven by Mattie Harrell, 47, of Starkville — as she exited Highway 82 onto Highway 45 Alternate.
Bush was eastbound on Highway 82, and Harrell was southbound on 45 Alternate.
The wreck is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol
Bush was removed from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life. Harrell was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
The condition of the women was unknown Monday night, MHP Troop G spokesman Brian Mobley said. Mobley said a trooper went to Tupelo to check on Bush but was unable to get an update.
Lowndes County District 5 and East Oktibbeha volunteer firefighters responded to the accident.
