Wristbands and passports are still available for those wishing to buy them before the New Year”s Eve block party, said Main Street Columbus director Amber Murphree Brislin.
The wristbands are $10 each, and are available at the Main Street Columbus office, WCBI-TV, and the Columbus Arts Council until 5 p.m. Thursday.
“A majority of the people will buy them the day of the event. They can buy them at the gate, but we encourage people to buy them before 5,” Brislin said.
The block party, from 8 p.m.-12:30 a.m., will take place at Leadership Plaza, in the block of College Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets South. An outdoor concert by Citizen Kane is set to begin at 9:30 p.m.
Glenn Machine Works designed and manufactured a 10-by-10-foot ball, which will be covered in lights and suspended by crane 150 feet in the air. WCBI-TV will broadcast live from the celebration from 11:50 p.m. to 12:05 a.m.
Brislin said the official wristband gets you admission to the block party and the concert, as well as promotions at all participating businesses, but there is more.
“After you visit three places, you get a chance to win a cruise for two to Cozumel, Mexico, on a Carnival cruise ship,” Brislin said.
