PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. — A third student injured in a bus accident on Friday has been released from the hospital, according to a Pickens County Schools press release.
The student — one of three injured in the crash who spent time in a hospital — was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. The other two were treated overnight at local hospitals and released on Saturday.
Veteran bus driver Sharon Hood died Saturday from injuries she suffered in the accident. She was driving a bus with 14 students from Reform Elementary School and Pickens County High School when the bus struck an SUV.
Hood’s viewing will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Lavender Funeral Services in Aliceville, with funeral services set for noon Saturday at Pickens County High School auditorium in Reform.
