Three suspects accused of taking part in a robbery in north Columbus last week are behind bars.
Authorities arrested Robert Earl Butler III, 18, of 315 Florence St. in Columbus, on Third Avenue North about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Butler is charged with armed robbery and went before a judge this morning, according to Fred Shelton, interim chief of police with the Columbus Police Department.
Butler is the third suspect to be arrested in connection with an armed robbery outside an apartment building last week. The other two suspects — Jamory Ross, 18, and Anthony Gilmore, 19 — were charged last week with armed robbery in connection to the incident, which occurred Monday, Nov. 23, about 7:30 p.m., according to authorities.
Police say a man was standing outside the Sandpiper Apartment on Eighth Street North when three men walked up to him and robbed him at gunpoint. One of the men pointed a gun at him while another went through the victim’s pockets and took his wallet. The three men then ran north on Eighth Street, authorities say.
The victim was unharmed.
Butler, Ross and Gilmore each remain in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
