A man allegedly at the scene of a weekend shooting in Columbus has been arrested on multiple unrelated charges, including armed robbery and assault.
Officers with the Columbus Police Department took DeAngelo Fisher, 34, of 408 Eighth Ave. N., into custody early Sunday morning, hours after a shooting near the intersection of 17th Street South and Bell Avenue sent one man to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo Saturday night.
Fisher was charged Tuesday with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon for allegedly possessing the gun found at the scene, but he was also charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery in a separate incident, CPD Capt. Brent Swan said.
Fisher and another suspect, Lavento Fox, 33, of 1801 Third Ave. S., are both accused of holding a 47-year-old man at gunpoint, beating him and robbing him on Washington Avenue on Jan. 14.
Fisher was not charged with aggravated assault in the Saturday night shooting, and Fox has not been charged in the shooting at all.
Municipal Court Judge Gary Goodwin set Fisher’s bond at $250,000 for the armed robbery charge and $50,000 each for assault and possession of a weapon.
Fox, who officers arrested Tuesday, was also charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Goodwin set his bond at $400,000 for the armed robbery and $250,000 for the aggravated assault.
No one has yet been charged for shooting the victim who went to NMMC Saturday, Swan said. The shooting is still under investigation.
